Q. What is CT Speed Dating?
A. CT Speed Dating is a fun, new and exciting way for singles to meet. Meet up to twenty members of the opposite sex in one evening! We provide a safe, friendly, upbeat and comfortable atmosphere where single men and women meet and engage in a series of "seven minute dates." When you "hear the bell" it's your signal to move on to your next "seven minute date." It is definitely a fun night out! Please tell a friend!
Q. Is membership required to attend the CT Speed Dating events?
A. No, membership is not required. While TheSingleEvent.com Network Groups events are available only to our members, our CT Speed Dating events are open to the public.
Q. Who participates in CT Speed Dating events?
A. Active, busy single people who are interested in meeting other single people "live and in-person."
Q. Why is it so popular?
A. Meeting the right person can be difficult. The demands of work and family leave little time for dating. When you meet and talk with someone "live and in-person" you can tell very quickly whether or not there is a little chemistry. After seven minutes you definitely know whether or not you would like to spend more time with that person. If the feeling is mutual and there is a "match," we provide both people with the contact information of your choosing. After that, it's up to you. There is no obligation to select anyone or to follow up. At our speed dating events you will meet up to twenty members of the opposite sex in one evening!
Q. Where are the events held?
A. In popular upbeat, upscale restaurants and lounges throughout CT. There are also opportunities to "meet and mingle" before the event, during the break and after the event.
Q. How does it work?
A. First of all, please arrive on time and check in with our host. You will find the atmosphere at our events to be informal, relaxed and comfortable. There are no group announcements, no regimentation and no one is ever singled out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. Our host will provide you with a pen, name tag (first names only) and a little paperwork which includes a "match sheet" on which you will keep track of the people that you meet. Women are seated at numbered tables and, "at the bell," the men navigate through a carefully orchestrated, systematically designed maze of tables and chairs. (Can't wait to see that, right? See! You're already having fun!) Each conversation is seven minutes in length. After each date, discreetly mark your match sheet with a comment or two and a "Yes or No" indicating whether or not you are interested in contacting that person again. By the end of the event you will have had up to twenty "seven minute dates." At the end of the event please give our host your completed match sheet. We will contact everyone with "results" within 3 business days via email or phone. Everyone will hear from us with "results." Where there are "matches," meaning that both people indicated "Yes," we provide both the men and the women with contact information of your choosing. This is generally an email address and/or a cell phone number. No match, no contact information.
Q. What kinds of questions should I ask?
A. You are free to approach each conversation in any way that you would like. Our host will provide you with a list of questions that, if you choose, you may use. The list will certainly give you some ideas. Some questions are not allowed. Please do not ask anyone for his or her contact information. This includes last name, phone number, email address, residence address and address of employment. Please do not ask for or give out a business card. You may ask what kind of work they do. You may ask the name of the town or city where they live. You are not allowed to ask for a date. Inappropriate questions or behavior will not be permitted. Come to the event expecting to meet a lot of nice people and expecting to have a nice time.
Q. Are there a lot of matches?
A. Yes. The majority of people who attend have "matches." Come relaxed, looking good and expecting to have a great time. Come alone or with a friend or two. Our host will be there to greet you. It will definitely be a new and unique experience!
Q. What are the suggested age ranges for your speed dating events?
A. Each event is planned with an "suggested age range" of ten to twelve years. Extending the age range a few years either way is okay. As a matter of policy, we do not ask people their ages. CT Speed Dating plans events for different age groups. Please refer to the "Open to the Public Events Calendar" for more information.
