Q. What is "The Single Event"?

A. We are a members-only organization serving single professionals. We plan and organize cocktail receptions, culinary, cultural and social events.

Q. Why do single professionals join your organization?

A. We offer a safe, relaxed and upscale environment to meet other single professionals and share some of the great experiences Connecticut has to offer.

Q. Do you plan private and corporate events as well?

A. Yes. While it is not our primary focus, occasionally, one of our members asks us to plan a private or corporate event. We accommodate all requests of our members whenever possible.

Q. How would you describe the people who join "The Single Event"?

A. Our members lead active lives. They are busy professionals who appreciate the opportunity to meet other interesting, articulate, educated and successful people.

Q. How do I join?

A. Just click on Join Us , review the membership plan options and complete the Membership Application . It's easy.

Q. Can you tell me more about the cocktail receptions?

A. Our get acquainted cocktail receptions are a great way to meet and mingle with some of Connecticut's most interesting single people. Like our dining events, our cocktail receptions are for members only with a few significant differences. You may make a reservation in advance or join our organization right at the cocktail reception. Please review the membership options on the Join Us page. We offer a quick, easy and hassle-free reservation form which can which can be discreetly completed in a few minutes. Come alone or with a group. We will make it comfortable for you to join and attend. Please review the Events Page . Feel free to call our offices for information.

Q. Can you tell me more about the dining events?

A. When you attend one of our dining events expect to be greeted by one of our hosts. We begin with a reception (approximately one hour) in the restaurant lounge or a private room. This is a wonderful opportunity for introductions and socializing in a casual setting. We usually have pre-arranged seating at dinner at tables of six to ten with similar age groupings a consideration. We are assured by the restaurant staff that the multi-course meal presented will have a special flair. Please review the Events Page . Feel free to call our offices for information.

Q. What is the age range of your members?

A. Our members range in age from their late twenties to late fifties.

Q. I am not always comfortable in social settings meeting new people. What do you do to help people who are reserved feel more comfortable at your events?

A. Someone from our staff serves as host for each event. Our host makes introductions during the reception. At our dining events seating at the tables is usually prearranged with other men and women that are similar in age and, whenever possible, share similar interests.

Q. Do most people come to the events alone?

A. Yes, most people do come alone. Our host will be there to greet you and introduce you to other members.

Q. May I bring a guest who is not a member?

A. Yes, guests at our dining events are always welcome providing they are a guest of a member, they are a single professional and space is available. Please review our Guest Policy on the Join Us page.

Q. How do I sign up for an event?

A. It's easy. Go to the Events Page and review the event information. You may register and make your reservation on-line, by email, mail, fax or call our offices. Please feel free to call with questions and to confirm your reservations. Dining events do require reservations. Cocktail receptions do not require reservations.

Q. How much does membership in "The Single Event" cost?

A. Please click on Join Us and review the membership plan options. Registering as a "Member Referral Affiliate" can quickly offset the cost of membership. The information is available on the Join Us page. Please call our offices for information.

Q. Does the membership fee include the cost of events?

A. No. Events are an additional cost. Each event is priced differently. The information is available on the Events Page and in the monthly newsletter. Please feel free to call our offices for information.

Q. How many events may I attend each month?

A. Members may attend as many events as they would like as long as space is available.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

A. If cancellations are made at least five days before an event a full credit is given toward future events. If a cancellation is made within five days of the scheduled event no credit or refund is given. Be assured we try to accommodate our members whenever possible.

Q. Are you able to accommodate special dietary requests?

A. Yes, whenever possible. Please call with special dietary requests.

Q. Is there a dress code for the events?

A. We usually suggest appropriate attire for each event. This information is available on the Events Page with the event information. We want our members to be relaxed and comfortable.

Q. Are alcoholic beverages included in the planned menu and the cost of the events?

A. No, not usually. When the event is a wine tasting the wine would be included in the cost. Many of our members drink sociably at our events. Many of our members do not drink at all. Alcoholic beverages may be ordered at the cocktail receptions and at the dining event reception as well as with dinner. The transaction is made by separate check between the member and the restaurant.

Q. What is the purpose of your Member Profile and Business Listings pages?

A. This is an opportunity to promote your business and/or your avocation and share something about yourself and your interests. Of course, these benefits are included in your membership. "The Single Event" staff reserves the right to review and approve the content of the "Member Profile" and the "Business Listings".
